From Friday to Sunday, everything in the COPTER WORLD powered by DJI revolves around drones and multi-copters. In a 550 m2 blocked off area in hall 6, professionals will demonstrate the potential found in the agile flying objects for photography and moving images from the bird’s eye view in the context of flying shows. In addition to state of the art drones and cameras, revolutionary accessories will also be presented at photokina.
This is because, beyond the fascination exercised by drones and multi-copters over many people, this in some case involves high-priced and high-tech equipment, with which especially professional photographers must deal today. In addition to the world’s largest drone manufacturer DJI (hall 2.1, stand: C011 D014), AEE Technology Inc. (hall 9.1, stand: A011), Yuneec (hall 9.1, stand: B010 C011), JTT (hall 9.1, stand A038) and Powervision (hall 9.1, stand B034) present the latest generation of flying recording devices. With the Moverio, Epson presents the first multimedia glasses that can also control drones, and thus opens up another practical application area for augmented reality (hall 2.2; hall 6 only on the weekend).

The rapid development of unmanned aviation from a toy for adults through military use to utilisation for photography and filming videos means a revolution for recordings from the bird’s eye view: where small aircraft with the doors removed, hot air balloons or helicopters used to be needed to realise impressive aerial recordings, this can be done much better today with unmanned and very much more affordable flying devices. Impressive because the small photo drones allow entirely new perspectives, as they can navigate closer to the sheer rock wall, the mountain peak or the church tower than all other manned alternatives. They are in the meantime equipped with high resolution cameras that provide professional photo and film quality. However, most innovative are also the control systems, which allow safe navigation inside and outside, and include both automatic collision protection and take-off blocks for no-fly zones.
During the 45-minute flying shows taking place from 23-25 September 2016 in hall 6, pros and private visitors can experience the possibilities offered by the copters from right up close. Experts comment on the features and functions during the shows. Those who wish may even assume control themselves.

For your safety
Koelnmesse has followed the events of the past several months with deep sympathy. We take the concerns of our guests, exhibitors and visitors very seriously and are implementing corresponding measures to make the events as safe and secure as possible.
In doing so, we are working together with the security forces at all times. We have also discussed and coordinated the security concept for the events at the exhibition centre with the authorities.
Extensive security measures are being planned for our events, including photokina. Because these measures include visual inspections and spot checks of baggage, waiting times can get longer in the entrance areas. The control measures are adjustable and can be adapted at short notice after consultations with the security forces.
To prevent unnecessary waiting times, we ask you to leave any baggage that isn’t required for your trade fair visit at home.
To ensure the work of the security forces isn’t impaired, we ask that you please understand that we cannot provide any detailed information about the specific security measures.
